Bestiary - The Nightstalkers of Vodash |
| |
Vodash the Undying & the Nightstalkers
Not every creature in Thranok bends its knee to goodness and peace. In the dank,
shadowy places of the world where men do not willingly venture, creatures bent to the
will of evil thrive and grow strong. They walk the path of death and feed upon the
innocence and light of the world, subduing it to their evil intent and creating pain and
sadness where happiness and beauty once existed. While these horrors call no man
their master, there is one among them that causes even the most terrifying of creatures
to lower their head in fearful submission. This silent malice is known as Vodash
the Undying, a hateful shell of a being that was once something nearly human though
most certainly older than humanity. It now stands as a withered, blackened abomination
draped in a heavy, tattered cloak. Two eyes burn with a cold fire from within its
gaunt face and its bony fingers tirelessly clutch the beautiful golden skull with two
great rubies mounted in the deep sockets that is its focus. Endless years of sleepless
thought have allowed Vodash to attain the rank of Master Summoner and it rules over
the dark terrors that walk the land who are referred to in whispered voices as the
Nightstalkers of Vodash. These living dead and black demons of the night are powerless
against the silent call of Vodash and his magic and they stalk the shadowy places
of the civilized parts of Thranok, always intent upon bringing death and pain to the
living. Vodash learned of the island’s existence through the torture of one of Ilshen’s
scholars and now travels there in a great ebony ship sailed by a crew of restless dead.
It is unknown what Vodash intends to do with the power of the Stones but certainly it
intends to bend their great power to some dark plan that will imprison the world
tightly in its skeletal grasp.
Special Nightstalkers Ability: All units commanded by Vodash have the
special ability of Fear in addition to any other special abilities. This is denoted on the
appropriate units by a skull medallion in the lower right hand corner of the unit’s
token. See the rulebook for a description of Fear and its use.
